Safety padlocks are available in a wide variety of styles, featuring innovative concepts, modern and attractive designs, unique decorative elements, user preferences, and reliable safety protection functions. However, when it comes to the maintenance of a safety padlock, many users may not fully understand how much proper care actually matters. In fact, throughout the entire service life of a padlock, paying attention to the following maintenance steps can ensure long-term, safe, and correct use.

The drive system inside the padlock cylinder should be kept properly lubricated to ensure smooth operation and extend the service life of the padlock. Regular inspections are recommended, generally once every six months. Special attention should be paid to screws and fastening components. If any screws are found to be loose, they should be tightened immediately.

After a padlock has been used for a period of time, even if there is no obvious stiffness or blockage, the lock cylinder should still be maintained every six months. Pencil lead powder or flake graphite can be added into the keyway. Insert and remove the key several times to ensure smooth engagement. Liquid oils or raw oils should not be used, as they may cause dust adhesion and result in the padlock becoming jammed.

During installation, carefully read and follow the relevant instructions. Proper installation is essential for the padlock’s performance, especially with regard to installation dimensions, application range, and unlocking methods specified by the manufacturer.

In daily use, keep the padlock cylinder clean and prevent dirt from entering the internal pins, as this can gradually lead to poor operation or failure to open. If the key does not turn smoothly, do not force it. Instead, apply gasoline, automotive fuel, or anti-rust oil to clean the padlock, then insert the key and gently rotate it several times until smooth operation is restored.
