1. Keep the lock cylinder lubricated.
Regularly apply lubricant to the cylinder mechanism to ensure smooth operation and extend the padlock’s lifespan. It’s best to check your lock every six months, especially to make sure all screws are tight. If you find any loose ones, tighten them right away.
2. Maintain the lock cylinder regularly.
Even if the padlock works fine, it still needs periodic care — ideally every six months. You can add a little pencil lead powder or graphite flakes into the keyhole, then insert and turn the key several times to keep it working smoothly. Avoid using cooking oil, as it can stick to the metal parts and make the lock hard to open.
3. Follow the installation instructions carefully.
When installing the padlock, always read the manual and follow the instructions. Make sure you understand the correct position, application range, and the proper distance needed for locking and unlocking.
4. Keep the lock clean.
Try to keep dirt and debris out of the keyhole. Dust or grime can cause the lock to jam or turn roughly. If the key doesn’t turn easily, you can add a small amount of gasoline, kerosene, or anti-rust oil into the keyhole, then insert and turn the key several times until it becomes smooth again.
